Iowa State vs. Kansas State prediction and odds for Saturday, February 18
By Josh Yourish
The Big 12 is a bloodbath this year. Case and point, the Kansas State Wildcats are the No. 12 team in the country and they’re only 7-6 in conference play with a 19-7 record overall. Six of the 10 teams in the conference are in the top 25 including the No. 19 Iowa State Cyclones who are 17-8 and 8-5 in conference.
The last time these teams met up it was in Ames and the Cyclones took an 80-76 win that was a bit higher scoring than they typically like. Jaren Holmes had 23 points in the win. The Wildcats are favorites to avenge that loss at home today.
Iowa State vs. Kansas State odds, spread and total
Iowa State vs. Kansas State prediction and pick
The first meeting was very much played how Kansas State wanted to play it. They dictated the pace and still got beat at their own game. Since that game, Iowa State has played three other games where their opponent finished with 70 or more points and they lost all three. The Cyclones only give up 61.6 points a game, but K-State averages 75.9 and we already saw which side won out last time.
The other factor is home court which has a huge impact on conference play. Kansas State is 13-1 at home and are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven home games. Meanwhile, Iowa State is 2-6 on the road with an 0-4 record ATS in their most recent four trips away from Ames.
Back in the Cyclones win a few weeks ago, Markquis Nowell had a great game for K-State with 23 points and nine assists. Iowa State had no answer for the 5-foot-8 guard who is averaging 16.8 points and 7.6 assists a game. He was held in check in K-State’s loss to Oklahoma on Tuesday, but I think he’ll have a huge afternoon in the ‘Little Apple’ today.
