Cowboys star Micah Parsons blasts city of Detroit in Jalen Ramsey recruiting tweet
By Kristen Wong
Cowboys’ Micah Parsons recently insulted the entire city of Detroit in a response to the Lions’ attempt to recruit Jalen Ramsey.
Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has probably never heard anybody say, “I’m going to Detroit on vacation.”
Parsons took shots at the city in response to a rumor that the Detroit Lions were trying to recruit Los Angeles Rams’ Jalen Ramsey. Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown apparently tried reaching out to Ramsey asking him to “talk to me” if Ramsey’s considering Detroit as a potential landing spot.
Parsons retweeted St. Brown’s plea with the caption, “I’m sorry no one going from LA to Detroit,” automatically putting himself in the bad graces of Detroit pizza shops and Eminem Stans everywhere.

Lions fans will immediately point out that Jared Goff, a former Ram, actually made the trek from sunny California to the Motor City but…..that was hardly by choice. Goff was traded by the Rams for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford two years ago in a move that also sent two first-round picks to the Lions.
What good did that do for Goff’s career? Diddly squat. While Stafford won his first Super Bowl, Goff settled down on a team that hasn’t won a division title or a playoff game in the last two decades.

Goff and Ramsey did play together for about one and a half seasons in Los Angeles before Goff’s trade, but there may not be a strong enough rapport between the two of them for Ramsey to seriously move to Detroit, out of all places.
The list of people who have moved from LA to Detroit is quite short: Jared Goff (not by choice). Blake Griffin. Kristen Bell and Shane Steichen-look alike Dax Shepard (only for family reunions, presumably).
There’s no doubt that Ramsey would boost the Lions’ leaky pass defense and maybe even help the Lions earn a second consecutive winning record in 2023. The young, foundational pieces are there in players like St. Brown, D’Andre Swift, Aidan Hutchinson, and others. Plus, Dan Campbell is one heck of a cool coach.
Still, Ramsey could hardly consider Detroit a desirable offseason destination when Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford, and Aaron Donald are playing beach volleyball in his backyard. People go to LA for vacation plenty of times. But no one ever goes to Detroit.
