4. Jets’ quarterback options – Ryan Tannehill

There has been some buzz that the Jets are very high on Tannehill, who is just three years removed from taking the Tennessee Titans to the AFC Championship Game. Tannehill also helped Tennessee earn the AFC’s top seed in the 2021 season before getting upset by the Cincinnati Bengals in the Divisional Round.

The Titans’ decision to trade A.J. Brown was a significant hindrance to Tannehill in 2022, whose production decreased significantly before he missed the last three games of the year due to an ankle injury. There is a chance that Tennessee opts to move on from Tannehill, who will turn 35 in July and has an expensive salary cap hit of roughly $36 million.

Releasing Tannehill or trading him would save the cap-strapped Titans about half that amount, which could allow them to try and get younger at the position. The Jets have also hired one of Tannehill’s former coaches in Todd Downing, who was the Titans’ offensive coordinator over the past few years, to work on their coaching staff as the passing game coordinator.

The Jets could be a good landing spot for Tannehill, who would have an immense upgrade in supporting cast with Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore as his top receivers. Tannehill would be an admittedly short-term solution for New York but the acquisition cost shouldn’t be too high.
