1 trade the Los Angeles Angels want to take back: Dante Bichette

Dante Bichette won the Silver Slugger and finished second in the NL MVP race during his 1995 season with the Colorado Rockies. But, did you know that Bichette was originally part of the Los Angeles Angels organization?

While they were referred to as the California Angels at the time, Bichette was originally drafted by the Angels in the 17th round of the 1984 MLB Draft. Bichette spent five years in LA’s minor league system before making his MLB debut in 1988.

Bichette spent three years with the Angels and hit just .244 over 178 games. The Angels then dealt Bichette to the Milwaukee Brewers prior to the 1991 season in exchange for former MVP Dave Parker.

The problem was that Parker was well past his prime. As it turned out, 1991 was The Cobra’s final major league season. Parker was released midway through the season and was picked up by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bichette would go on to have a solid career with the Colorado Rockies. The Brewers actually traded Bichette as well prior to the MLB expansion draft in 1996. Bichette would make four All-Star appearances during his time in the Mile High City and was constantly mentioned as an MVP candidate from 1994-1998.
