1 trade the Cleveland Guardians want to take back: CC Sabathia

CC Sabathia was the then-Cleveland Indians’ first-round pick back in 1998. At the age of 20, Sabathia began his career in 2001 and finished second in the AL Rookie of the Year voting. Ichiro Suzuki won the award that year.

Sabathia, during his time in Cleveland, would go to three All-Star Games and win the Cy Young Award in 2007. During his eight years in Cleveland, Sabathia posted a 3.83 ERA and recorded 1,265 strikeouts.

But, the Milwaukee Brewers stepped up the plate in 2008 and swung a deal for Sabathia. Despite spending just half the season in the Cream City, Sabathia still garnered plenty of Cy Young votes and finished fifth in the race.

During the following offseason, CC Sabathia signed a massive seven-year contract with the New York Yankees and was a fixture in the rotation for 11 more seasons. Sabathia retired after the 2019 season, and when the time comes, he’ll surely be elected into the Hall of Fame.
