Could Cristian Pulisic sign for Real Madrid?
Cristian Pulisic has recently been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid. However, new reports have revealed that he could be heading to their city rivals Real Madrid.
U.S. men’s national team star Christian Pulisic would have likely left Chelsea in the last transfer window but for an injury which has kept him out of action since Jan. 5. He has now returned to first-team training and could be set to feature for the Blues soon.
His long-term future with the club, however, is very much still in question.
The Spanish website Defensa Central has reported that “Madrid wants to reinforce the right wing of their attack and Pulisic likes them a lot. The American attacker has also stated that he wanted to play for Real Madrid one day.
“At 24 years old and in a rather unfavorable situation at Chelsea, he could see his dream of wearing white come true from next season.”
Would Christian Pulisic suit Real Madrid?
Any player would jump at the chance to join Los Blancos. It would be a chance for Pulisic to play in a new league and join another top club.
Pulisic already has one Champions League medal. At Real Madrid, he would be joining a team that has been European champions 14 times. They destroyed Liverpool 5-2 in midweek and if Pulisic was to sign for them, he would put himself in good contention to fill his trophy cabinet.
He is yet to win a league title in his career. The Spanish side has 35 La Liga titles and although they are currently second to Barcelona this season, Pulisic would likely win the tournament at the club.
The winger would be brought in to replace Eden Hazard who Madrid also signed from Chelsea. Hazard has ended up being a bit of a flop at the Bernabeu and has made just three La Liga appearances this season.
It would be a historic move if Pulisic is to join Real Madrid as he could be the first American to play for the club.
What are Christian Pulisic’s other options?
Atletico Madrid who Real Madrid play today is another option for Pulisic. They could be interested in swapping him for Joao Felix who is currently on loan at the Blues.
The USMNT forward has also been linked with Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan. These are three massive clubs and it would be an opportunity for Pulisic to play in another top European league. However, the defensive-minded approach to Italian soccer may not suit him.
He has also been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool but Graham Potter’s side would prefer not to sell him to a rival Premier League team.
Despite all of their recent signings, Chelsea is struggling this season. When Pulisic returns from injury he may have a chance to prove how important he could be for the club.
Pulisic is the USMNT’s talisman, he is nicknamed Captain America. His county needs him to be playing regular soccer in the three years leading up to the 2026 World Cup which they are co-hosting.
