Breaking down the Honda Classic payout for the 2023 PGA Tour tournament at PGA National with a prize money breakdown for the purse this week.

After two designated events on the PGA Tour, we made our way to the 2023 Honda Classic this week, a classic venue on the Tour with PGA National that always produces tremendous golf. And while the field and the purse were lesser than in the previous two weeks, the tournament still produced the goods.

Chris Kirk came into Sunday’s final round with a two-shot lead but the likes of Eric Cole and Justin Suh led a chase pack full of rookies trying to leave their mark on the golfing world and with familiar faces like Shane Lowry in striking distance as well. That set up the drama as the players competed for their share of the $8.4 million purse this week with the winner taking home $1.512 million in prize money.

Now that Kirk emerged with a win on the first playoff hole against Cole, though, let’s take a look at the 2023 Honda Classic payout distribution with the prize money allotted for each finishing position at this tournament.

With 80 golfers making the cut at PGA National, the prize money down on the bottom of the leaderboard got chopped up quite a bit, but the players are still going home with a chunk of change for their work.

It’s a bit jarring to see this Honda Classic payout distribution after the elevated events over the past two weeks and with LIV Golf playing this week and giving out $120,000 to last place. Even still, with a weaker field than has been playing in recent weeks, coming out to this tournament and showing out can still be quite valuable to players’ bank accounts and for their standing in the FedExCup race.
