NFL rumors: Las Vegas Raiders have moved off Derek Carr, need a new franchise quarterback

While the Indianapolis Colts could be lucky enough to have C.J. Stroud fall into their lap at No. 4, the Las Vegas Raiders would have to settle for either Will Levis or Anthony Richardson out of Florida should they stay at No. 7. It would be so incredibly Al Davis of them to take either SEC quarterback not named Hendon Hooker or Stetson Bennett IV, but that is neither here nor there.

This is all about second-year head coach Josh McDaniels getting himself a franchise quarterback to partner up with. The last time he had this opportunity, he took Tim Tebow and didn’t make it through year two with the Denver Broncos. So really anything he decides to do in the NFL Draft to address the quarterback position will be seen as a vast improvement for him, to be totally honest.

For now, the Raiders are the only team in-division without a long-term solution at quarterback…

C.J. Stroud would look good in Silver and Black closer to his native West Coast

To be frank, the Raiders are a total wild card here, as you can totally see all four first-round quarterback talents potentially landing in Las Vegas and having the time of their life there. Richardson is more of a project, so reaching on him is probably not happening. Levis at No. 7 makes sense, but do you think he is beating Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson?

The reason Las Vegas moving up to No. 1 to get Stroud makes sense is he feels like the safest pick for the Raiders to make if they were to take a quarterback. Not so quietly, they have shown an affinity for him, even while Derek Carr was playing for him. If Stroud is the guy McDaniels wants to attach his second, and last, head-coaching opportunity to, then by all means, trade up for the guy.

Nobody would love to see the Raiders move up to No. 1 to get Stroud than the Houston Texans.
