NFL Rumors: Leonard Fournette landing spots after Bucs release RB
We’re going to see some changes in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roster this offseason as they prepare for post-Tom Brady life and we have word on one such change. Veteran running back Leonard Fournette is expected to be released when the new league year starts as a cap casualty when the new league year starts on March 15.

GM Jason Licht mentioned recently that he felt Fournette was still a three-down back in this league. “Lombardi Lenny” is still only 28 and has plenty in the tank. pic.twitter.com/KMHiGSfG9L
At 28 years old, though, Fournette could still be quite helpful in the right offense if healthy and protected by a solid offensive line. So which teams could sign him once he’s on the market?
Garrett Podell of CBS Sports named the Cardinals, Eagles, Dolphins and Rams as four possible spots. Arizona is looking to help a new head coach find an offensive identity, the Eagles could be looking to replace Miles Sanders, the Dolphins are replacing both Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr., and the Rams may look to move past Cam Akers.
Those all make sense. However, we shouldn’t overlook a team like the Kansas City Chiefs either. Jerick McKinnon is set to hit free agency, as is Ronald Jones II. Meanwhile, the team has clearly soured on Clyde Edwards-Helaire as well. And while Isaih Pacheco broke out this past season, the fact of the matter is Andy Reid loves to have a crowded running back room.
If Fournette wants to go ring-chasing again, the Chiefs have a need for depth at his position that he could easily fill at the right price.
