NASCAR Xfinity Series: Who won the Alsco Uniforms 300?
By Eric Treuden
Who won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway?
The NASCAR Xfinity Series travels to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the third race on the 2023 schedule.
Heading into the day, 20-year-old Chandler Smith started on the pole, earning the first pole of his young career in just his fifth start.
Cup Series regulars Kyle Busch and Tyler Reddick participated in the event as well, both looking to get more time on the track in hopes that that will help them out in tomorrow’s Cup race.
Las Vegas is Busch’s hometown track and he entered the day looking to secure the second win of the weekend. In Friday night’s Truck Series race, he effortlessly took home the trophy, winning for the 63rd time in his career, an all-time record.
In the Xfinity Series, Busch is also the all-time wins leader. His 102 wins are more than double the wins that second-place Mark Martin got, who ended his storied career with 49.
NASCAR Cup Series: Who won the Alsco Uniforms 300?
Throughout the day, Smith was in complete control. He didn’t take home any stage wins, but he lead the vast majority of the laps in the final stage.
John Hunter Nemechek, last week’s winner, won Stage 1 while Hill, the winner at the season opener at Daytona, won Stage 2.
In the end, Smith was leading with just two laps to go. Then, in one of the more impressive displays of driving you’ll ever see, Hill passed him coming to the white flag. To the surprise of many, Hill held on to the victory and swiped the win right out from under Smith.
This is the second win of the season for Hill in just three races. He continues the dominance of Richard Childress Racing across the sport.
