Here is the expected schedule for several key dates on the NFL calendar for 2023, including the NFL draft, rookie football programs and NFL training camp.
Every year in the NFL brings forth new changes, whether it’s the class of rookies selected in the draft or the rule updates that are bound to become controversial.
Another constant in the NFL is the fact that each year, league officials will map out key dates for the upcoming season.
It’s never too early to prepare for football season, so for zealous fans looking to mark their favorite NFL team’s training camp on their calendar, here are some dates to consider.
When does NFL training camp start in 2023?
NFL Football Operations has published their “2023 Important NFL Dates,” which denotes every major calendar event planned so far in 2023.
As of early March, the calendar only extends to the month of May, with May 22-24 marked as “Spring League Meeting, TBD.”
Key dates for NFL training camp haven’t been issued yet, but the league has shared that on May 15, “Rookie Football Development Programs begin.”
Even though exact dates are subject to change, the NFL calendar follows a similar schedule each season, meaning that training camp always begins around the same time every year. Although the dates haven’t been finalized, NFL training camp is expected to begin during the second half of July.
In 2022, DAZN shared training camp dates for all 32 NFL teams, with rookies reporting to camp between July 18-26 and veterans reporting to camp between July 23-26.
This year, the NFL is expected to adhere to their regular schedule, meaning that training camp will start in July as per usual. As far as other important NFL dates, teams will likely begin OTAs in late May, with rookie minicamps held during mid-May and mandatory minicamps held during mid-June.
