Derek Carr to the New Orleans Saints could totally change the paradigm of the NFC South.

Derek Carr is signing with the New Orleans Saints, and the NFC South will never be the same.

There is no way around it. This division is beyond horrific. Last year saw a 45-year-old Tom Brady carry a dead carcass of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team to the finish line at a less than stellar 8-9 record. That was good enough for first place, but bad enough to lose at home to the glorified hype machine known as the Dallas Cowboys at home in the Wild Card round. No wonder Brady retired…

With Carr entering the division I care so deeply about, let’s see how do the Saints stack up with the likes of the Buccaneers, the Carolina Panthers and my always delightful Atlanta Falcons.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a sinking ship in the wake of Tom Brady’s retirement

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans should be thanking their lucky stars that Tom Brady chose them during the height of COVID. You can never take that Super Bowl 55 championship away from them. A franchise that tends to be chaotic in a media market that cares more about cocktails than anything buckled down and hoisted the Lombardi Trophy. It wasn’t easy, but nothing ever is … no.

But even if Brady craved going to a looser, more fun culture in Tampa, the Buccaneers have gotten progressively worse each season. They have talent, but a lack of focus and attention to detail will always be the calling cards of Buccaneers football. Forcing Bruce Arians upstairs resulted in Todd Bowles being elevated beyond his competency level and turned Bryon Leftwich into a scapegoat.

If the Buccaneers were to sign someone like Jimmy Garoppolo or trade for someone like Aaron Rodgers, then there is a reason to buy into them. For now, it is the Kyle Trask show, and nobody outside of Gainesville wants to see that. Are we prepared to live in a world where Blaine Gabbert is starting games again? Until the Buccaneers have an answer at quarterback, we can write them off.

You would be lying to yourself if you did not think the Buccaneers could go from first to worst.
