The Lakers are clinging to their hopes of making the Play-In Tournament and need every win. Will Anthony Davis be available to help against the Grizzlies?

The Lakers are 31-34, in a four-way tie in the standings with the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers and New Orleans Pelicans for the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference. Just two of those teams will make the Play-In Tournament and every game is essential at this point in the season.

The Lakers have a golden opportunity to pick up win tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies, who will be missing Ja Morant in the fallout from this weekend where he flashed a gun on an Instagram Live video from inside a Denver strip club. The Lakers, however, will also be without LeBron James who is out indefinitely with a right foot injury. That means the availability of Anthony Davis could be key.

Will Anthony Davis be available against the Grizzlies tonight?

Davis is dealing with a foot injury of his own and listed as probable on the Lakers’ injury report. He has appeared in just 40 games this season but has appeared in two in a row — dropping 38 points in a loss to the Timberwolves and 39 in a win over the Golden State Warriors. Across the entire season he’s averaged 26.4 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.1 blocks per game, some of his best numbers since joining the Lakers.

In addition to missing Morant, the Grizzlies will also be without Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke. Davis has had just one day of rest since the win over the Warriors but, considering the stakes, his recent performance and a chance to feast on a depleted Grizzlies frontline, seems like a good bet to play tonight.
