2. Top Free Agent Targets For The Giants – CB Jonathan Jones

If Schoen had the foresight to see how good the Giants would be in 2022, he would love to have a mulligan on the James Bradberry decision. New York was forced to cut Bradberry, their best cornerback in 2021, due to salary cap concerns and he latched on with the Philadelphia Eagles to form a dynamic duo with Darius Slay in their secondary.

The hole that Bradberry left was never really filled and Schoen would love to add another cornerback to start opposite Adoree’ Jackson. The free agent market is loaded with cornerback options and one guy who would be a good fit in New York is former Patriots’ cornerback Jonathan Jones.

The Patriots found a gem when they signed Jones as an undrafted free agent in 2016. After spending years as a key reserve in the secondary, Bill Belichick made Jones a starter after J.C. Jackson left in free agency a year ago and Jones responded with career-bests in interceptions (4), passes defensed (11), and forced fumbles (3).

There is risk in signing former Patriots as a lot of them don’t perform as well away from Foxboro but Jones wouldn’t have to be the No. 1 corner in New York. Adding a competent starter opposite Jackson would significantly improve the Giants’ secondary so Jones should be a top target for Schoen.
