This is the potential “go big” move for the Cowboys. Defensive tackle is a need, and Jonathan Hankins and Carlos Watkins are set to become unrestricted free agents. There will be some other intriguing options in free agency, including David Onyemata and Dre’Mont Jones.

Hargrave will be the top defensive tackle on the market. He is an absolute force inside. Last season, he had a career-high 11.0 sacks. He did not disappoint during the postseason, either. He came up with a sack in the NFC Championship.

Over the last two seasons (including the playoffs), Hargrave has posted a PFF pass-rush grade of 92.4, which is the second-best in the NFL behind only Aaron Donald.

Hargrave would add another elite pass rusher to the Cowboys’ front seven, but he would come at a high cost. Spotrac estimates Hargrave’s market value to be $20.1 million per season, so the front office would have to make several moves to free up cap space.

Still, landing Hargrave would be huge for the organization and would have a huge impact on the power balance in the NFC East.
