Yankees prospects who can make an impact: Oswald Peraza

Another middle infielder you may ask? How might the Yankees fit this in? Truth is, the Yankees have two years left of team control on Gleyber Torres, so some have speculated that Torres could be moved via trade. These rumors have actually been spreading for a few years now, so you can’t be surprised by whatever happens with Torres.

As for Peraza, he is another highly touted prospect, who has been known for his contact-first approach and his spectacular glove at shortstop.

In his short stint in the majors with the Yankees, he showed his contact ability, posting a .306 with a .404 on base and a .832 OPS in 18 games. He only hit one home run, but what is a concern is his 55% ground ball rate in the short sample size. However, in his first stint in the majors, he had a hard hit % of 30, according to BaseballSavant. He has the tools to make good things happen with the bat.

His glove is his best tool in my opinion. If he were to replace Gleyber Torres, the Yankees would have more range, athleticism, and consistency at the second base position. He is also more than capable to play his natural position, shortstop, if Volpe, or Kiner-Falefa we’re unavailable.
