Odell Beckham Jr. rumors: 5 teams that need to be at WR’s open workout

No. 2: Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have the most cap space to work with entering the 2023 league year, which means they can make some splashes in free agency. The team seemingly has their quarterback of the future in Justin Fields after a promising 2022 campaign. He has the ability to make plays with his arm, and with his feet. Yet, the one thing that was glaring throughout this past season was the fact that Fields desperately needs a new supporting cast.

Chicago is in need of not just wide receivers, but also offensive linemen. General manager Ryan Poles has the ability to make some moves in free agency, and also the NFL Draft, especially if they trade the No. 1 overall pick for additional capital.

Beckham being Fields’ No. 1 target downfield could do wonders for the Bears offense.

No. 1: Dallas Cowboys

Perhaps no team was more enamored with Beckham throughout his free agency tour than the Dallas Cowboys.

Prior to Beckham even visiting the team, various Cowboys players were recruiting the wide receiver on Twitter and in media scrums. Beckham made his visit to Dallas after Thanksgiving, where he notably attended a Mavericks game alongside linebacker Micah Parsons and cornerback Trevon Diggs. But despite all of the noise, no deal was reached due to Beckham’s knee not being fully recovered.

If this past run in the playoffs proved anything for the Cowboys, they missed Amari Cooper. While CeeDee Lamb shined for the team, quarterback Dak Prescott desperately needed another top option to target downfield. That was evident in the team’s 19-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has recently let it be known that he is still interested in signing Beckham.

Considering the overhaul of the offensive coaching staff, that should be an area to improve for Dallas. Simply put, the Cowboys need a top wide receiver to bring in to help the team finally reach the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl for the first time since the 1995 season.
