3 Yankees rotation replacement after Carlos Rodón and Frankie Montas injuries
By Lbaquero
Carlos Rodón and Frankie Montas are both starting 2023 on the IL. Who will step up in their absences?
Oh, man. The Yankees’ injury bug is back again. The metaphorical bug hit them hard as manager Aaron Boone announced on Mar. 9 that four players will start the season on the IL. Those players are RHPs Lou Trivino, Tommy Kahnle, Frankie Montas, and LHP Carlos Rodón. Harrison Bader is also undergoing further testing for an oblique injury.
The most impactful injury was that of Rodón. He suffered a mild forearm strain, resulting in Rodón landing on the IL. This means that to start the season, the Yankees will be down two starting pitchers, as Frankie Montas is also down with a shoulder injury.
This is the time when the Yankees’ homegrown pitching development will shine, as they have in the last couple of years, developing Luis Severino, Nestor Cortes, Michael King, Jordan Montgomery, and more over the years under GM Brian Cashman.
