MLB news: Braves injury, Yankees pitching, Jacob deGrom update

As spring training continues, let’s take a look at some of the latest MLB news and notes, including an Atlanta Braves injury, pitching depth for the New York Yankees, and Jacob deGrom returning to the mound.
Let’s start our MLB news roundup with the Atlanta Braves and Kolby Allard, who has had his spring training derailed by an oblique injury.
#Braves lefty Kolby Allard has grade 2 right oblique strain and will begin season on IL. Former ATL 1st-rounder returned to Braves from Rangers in Nov. trade for Jake Odorizzi, after 4 seasons w/Texas. He's expected to be at Triple A when healthy & provide rotation depth for ATL.

MLB news: What Kolby Allard’s injury means for Atlanta Braves pitching depth
The 25-year-old Allard was having a solid spring before the injury, throwing 5.0 combined innings in a pair of starts and allowing one run on three hits while striking out four and walking one. Allard was considered a possibility for Atlanta’s fifth starter spot, along with Bryce Elder and Ian Anderson. However, the injury will ensure that Allard starts the season at Triple-A, and there is no set timetable on when that might be.
While the Braves have a solid foursome in Max Fried, Spencer Strider, Charlie Morton, and Kyle Wright (provided he can rebound from a shoulder injury as spring training continues to unfold), watching what happens with the fifth starter in spot in Atlanta (which won’t include Allard, at least to start the season) will be very interesting.
