NFL Rumors: Dolphins prepared to make a gigantic splash in free agency
The Miami Dolphins have been not-so-secretly creating cap space in the past few days, restructuring the deals of star players like Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb to save around 44.5 million against the cap.
Currently the league leader in contract restructures, the Dolphins have to be up to something. Something big, as Jerry Jones might say.
Dolphins have restructured WR Tyreek Hill contract to convert his roster bonus & most of salary into up-front bonus that saves $18M in salary cap space, source confirms.

Hill, Terron Armstead, Bradley Chubb restructured deals this week to save Dolphins about $44.5M in cap space.
With just a few days to go before free agency, Miami is well-positioned to add quality reinforcements at several positions of need including cornerback, running back, inside linebacker, and backup quarterback.
The Tom Brady-Dolphins rumors haven’t died down, but for the sake of everybody’s sanity, let’s leave that alone.
That being said….with an exorbitant amount of cap space, it’s highly likely that Miami is going to be doing something at quarterback. Last week, the Dolphins publicly stated that they weren’t pursuing Lamar Jackson, likely shunning that path to re-inspire confidence in Tua Tagovailoa. A veteran like Jimmy Garoppolo feels like the safer bet, or perhaps a surprising name like Taylor Heinicke or Baker Mayfield. After last season’s quarterback fiasco, Mike McDaniel may be keeping all options on the table.
Who will be the Dolphins’ biggest signing this free agency? Miles Sanders? Dalton Schultz (any potential tight end they sign will out-griddy Gesicki, that’s for sure)? James Bradberry? Tik Tok boy?
Guess we’ll just have to wait to find out.
