Let’s take a look at some of the latest MLB news, including injury updates for key players with the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants.

We will start with the Yankees, a team that has been ravaged by injuries so far this spring. New York will be without two of its starting pitchers (Carlos Rodon and Frankie Montas) when the season begins, shifting the way the rotation will look early in the season, as well as some key relievers as well. Now the list of Yankees who will miss Opening Day has grown to include outfielder Harrison Bader as well.

MLB news: Harrison Bader to miss time for New York Yankees

Bader, acquired in a trade last season with the Cardinals, suffered a left oblique injury in Wednesday’s spring training game. With the injury, it’s expected that Bader will not be available to start in center field for at least the first three weeks of the regular season.

Without Bader in center field, the Yankees could start Aaron Judge there when New York hosts the San Francisco Giants on Opening Day on March 30. It could well be a temporary solution for a Yankees outfield that has plenty of question marks as spring training continues to unfold.

Bader played in just 14 regular-season games for the Yankees last season after recovering from plantar fasciitis, but made his presence felt in the postseason, slashing .400/.471/.800 in 17 plate appearances to be one of the few signs of life for the Yankees in an ALCS sweep at the hands of the Houston Astros.
