The NASCAR Cup Series raced at Phoenix this weekend for the United Rentals Work United 500.

Sunday’s race at Phoenix Raceway was one of the more action-packed events held at the track in quite some time.

Entering the day, 2020 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson sat on the pole with Denny Hamlin, William Byron, Brad Keselowski and Christopher Bell rounding out the top five.

Last year, Chase Briscoe broke into the win column for the first time in his career in stunning fashion. Was he able to make it two in a row at one of NASCAR’s best racetracks?

This weekend’s race was once again dominated by Kyle Larson and William Byron. Last week at Las Vegas, these two ran up front throughout the entire race with Byron emerging victorious.

In Stage 1 at Phoenix, Byron secured the victory. In Stage 2, it was Larson.

In the third and final stage, Kevin Harvick, arguably the best driver ever at this specific track, was the dominant car. His nine wins and 1,663 laps led at Phoenix are both the most all-time. A late race caution forced him to pit road, where he gave up the lead and ultimately lost the race because of it. He finished fifth and had to settle for his 20th consecutive top 10 at the track.

In the end, Byron captured the checkered flag after electing to take two tires on pit road after the caution with around 10 laps to go. His win at Phoenix is the sixth of his Cup Series career and second in a row to begin the 2023 season. He is the first repeat winner in the series this year.
