The Pac-12 will be represented by some high-level teams in the 2023 NCAA Tournament but how many teams out west made the cut in total?
Two of the biggest basketball programs in history reside in the Pac-12 and they’re expected to carry the banner for the conference as the 2023 NCAA Tournament gets underway.
UCLA and Arizona were the top two seeds in the Pac-12 tournament and both made it to the final as expected. The Wildcats took advantage of the Bruins’ beat-up squad, launching a second-half comeback after falling behind by nine to win the conference tournament championship 61-59.
The Bruins and Wildcats have been more concerned with improving their seeding than worrying about whether or not they’d get in. It was a different story for the likes of USC, Arizona State and Oregon.

How many Pac-12 teams made the NCAA Tournament?
The Pac-12 has four teams in the NCAA Tournament field this year: No. 2-seed UCLA, No. 2-seed Arizona, No. 10-seed USC and No. 11 Arizona State.
USC lost to Arizona State in their opening game of the Pac-12 Tournament. That’s a result that gave the Sun Devils a chance to make it into the madness while putting the Trojans’ place slightly at stake.
Oregon gave themselves a chance with a win over Washington State to begin their conference tournament run but they were humbled 75-56 by UCLA on Friday in the semifinals to essentially end their hopes of making it to the Big Dance.
When was the last time a Pac-12 team won March Madness?
Despite having two legendary brands, the Pac-12 has not had a team win the NCAA Tournament this century.
Arizona did it last in 1997 when Lute Olson’s Wildcats bested Rick Pitino’s Kentucky in overtime.
Two years earlier, UCLA won their last basketball championship in 1995 under Jim Harrick.
Maybe that will change this year, which would be great news for the fans out there who have Pac-12 teams going far in their brackets.
