THE PLAYERS Championship purse 2023: Payout by player, finishing position
Taking a look at THE PLAYERS Championship payout distribution for this week at TPC Sawgrass for how much players get from the $25 million purse.
There is nothing quite like THE PLAYERS Championship and the 2023 trip to TPC Sawgrass brought plenty of drama leading into Sunday. Winds and weather made for some carnage on the course and some big names dropping well out of contention, including Rory McIlroy missing the cut and Jon Rahm withdrawing with an illness. They won’t see their share of THE PLAYERS Championship payout.
Coming into Sunday’s final round, though, these players were vying for their share of the biggest purse on the PGA Tour at $25 million with the winner at $4.5 million. Scotties Scheffler held the lead coming into Sunday but challengers like Min Woo Lee, Viktor Hovland and many others were lurking trying to make a charge.

When you’re talking about THE PLAYERS Championship payout, it’s money from the biggest purse of the year on the PGA Tour, so it only stands to reason that the Top 5 are all making more than $1 million for this tournament. But it’s also quite impressive that the last-place player who saw the weekend with a made cut is still taking home more than $48K. That’s massive.
This tournament is a proving ground for both stars and underdogs. It’s nice to see the prize money reflect that with a great reward for a good showing on this super-difficult but level-playing-field-bringing type of course.
