1. Tim Tebow

This one could go so many different ways. Hershell Walker was a very strange Eagle. Art Monk was a legendary Washington player who eventually finished his career with the hated rivals just 100 miles north. Mark Bavaro was another tight end who was a legend for the Eagles’ rival New York Giants, but he finished it off with a spell in green. Still, none of this makes us go, “oh yeah, that did happen,” like the signing of Tim Tebow.

The Eagles signed Tebow in April 2015. At the time, he was the fifth quarterback on the roster behind Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez, Matt Barkley and G.J. Kinne. He was facing an incredible uphill battle to make the roster.

At the time of his signing, Tebow hadn’t started a game in four years, but he always had an obsessive following. His devout Christian faith made him a nightly headline whether he was starting or not. He will always be one of the greatest college players of all time. Maybe that’s why Chip Kelly felt like he could fix him in the NFL.

In a strange twist of fate, Tebow put together an incredible performance in the final week of the preseason. It didn’t matter, as he was cut before the 2015 season started, and the Eagles claimed to give the third-string job to Matt Barkley. The Eagles then traded Barkley to the Cardinals and just went without a third-stringer. Tebow never joined the NFL as a quarterback again and tried his luck at baseball. He was bad at that, too.
