Aaron Rodgers is absolutely toying with the New York Jets right now, and it’s totally hilarious.

Smile like you are in a hostage situation, New York Jets fans, because Aaron Rodgers is putting you through the ringer, alright.

Rodgers hasn’t owned a team this badly since the last time he played the Chicago Bears. While he is probably going to agree to be traded to Gang Green in a few weeks or so, the Jets are not able to do all that much in free agency as they continue to pursue Rodgers. The Green Bay Packers seem to be just fine in rolling with Jordan Love going forward, while Rodgers wants his guys in New York.

New York is trying to sign Packers wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb to entice Rodgers.

Former Packers front office executive Andrew Brandt is convinced Rodgers is trying to force the Jets to do things for him that Green Bay is no longer interested in.

And look at this! They are trying to get Big Dog Marcedes Lewis to come to the Jets this offseason.

The fact the Jets are in hot pursuit of Big Dog lets you know how serious they are about this trade.

No doubt about it, the Jets need to upgrade the quarterback position badly. They let Mike White leave for the division rival Miami Dolphins in free agency. Though Gang Green could sign a stop-gap or a high-end backup, the Zach Wilson era of Jets football went to hell in a hand basket faster than you can say Jet Blue air (heir). Look, Jets. Just figure it out and get Rodgers to come play here.

No team has missed the playoffs more frequently than the Jets. Long gone are the days of Mark Sanchez Butt Fumbling, Bart Scott not being able to wait and Rex Ryan telling you to go get a snack. Outside of some Vinny Testaverde greatness and a little bit of Chad Pennington shenanigans, these are the glory days of Jets football in my lifetime. We did not appreciate them.

Overall, the longer this drags out, the worse it gets for the Jets and Packers. This is because many of the other 30 teams in the NFL will be able to improve their rosters in free agency. Not everyone is going to win free agency like the Atlanta Falcons, but the Jets must trade for Rodgers to finish in second place. It’s okay, I believe in them. Second place in the AFC East will get you to the playoffs.
