Cowboys could explore a trade for Zamir White with Raiders bringing Josh Jacobs back

Sure, it’s great to think about the prospect of the Cowboys pulling off a big trade for someone like Dalvin Cook, Derrick Henry or Austin Ekeler, all of whom are reportedly on the trade block this offseason (or could be). However, the reason those players could be moved is because they are looking for new deals with big money or are already on such deals.

That’s not a pond that Dallas should be fishing in, especially as the negotiate with Pollard moving forward. Instead, they should continue to be in the market for cost-effective solutions that have a lot of upside and could very well have untapped potential.

The two options that it came down to in terms of possible trade targets to replace Ezekiel Elliott were Jets running back Zonovan Knight, who filled in quite well for injured Breece Hall down the stretch, and Raiders running back Zamir White. Ultimately, it feels like New York might be higher on Knight moving forward, which makes White the more feasible and attractive trade target for Dallas given the likely cost.

White, who was a fourth-round pick out of Georgia a year ago, played an extremely limited role for the Raiders behind Josh Jacobs, but averaged 4.1 yards per carry, averaged 3.29 yards after contact, and had three explosive runs of 10+ yards on only 17 total carries.

With Las Vegas bringing Josh Jacobs back on the franchise tag and having a ton of depth, White could be somewhat expendable for the Raiders. If so, he’d make a ton of sense for the Cowboys as a power option to fill the shoes of Elliott.
