NASCAR’s Xfinity Series moves on to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the fifth race of the 2023 season. Who took home the trophy?

The NASCAR Xfinity Series moves on to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the fifth installment of the 2023 regular season.

In last year’s event, Ty Gibbs, the eventual series champion, dominated the race on his way to the fifth win of his career just 21 races into it.

Eighteen-year-old Sammy Smith, last week’s winner after three strong races in a row prior to the Phoenix race, started on the pole for the Raptor King of Tough 250 at Atlanta.

NASCAR Xfinity Series: Austin Hill continues his dominance, wins once again

Let’s just call it like it is. Saturday’s race at Atlanta was a trainwreck. It felt throughout the entire event that guys couldn’t stop playing bumper cars and wrecking, causing caution after caution to fly. Ultimately, 11 yellow flags flew, a new all-time record at Atlanta in the Xfinity Series.

Not to mention, Josh Williams made headlines for taking part in one of the strangest occurrences you’ll ever see in a NASCAR race. After his car couldn’t continue due to severe damage, NASCAR told him to park his car and retire for the day.

He did just that, parking his car right at the start/finish line and walking from his car, through the infield grass, through pit road, and to the garage area. This temper tantrum was one of the worst displays of “professionalism” you’ll ever see on the track and was an extremely dangerous move by him.

At the end of the evening, Austin Hill once again emerged victorious. He managed to hold off driver-turned-broadcaster-turned-driver Parker Kligerman in exciting fashion and secured his third win of the 2023 season in just five races.

Hill’s win at Atlanta makes him the third driver in Xfinity Series history to win three of the first five races of the year, joining Mark Martin (1997, 2000) and Kyle Busch (2011, 2013, 2016) in the elite club.
