Kahlef Hailassie is a high-upside coverage CB the Cowboys need for depth

Even after the Stephon Gilmore trade, it’s hard not to look at the Cowboys and wonder if they have the necessary cornerback depth. We saw that be a real issue for the team down the stretch, so much so that they had to rely on Xavier Rhodes to start in a playoff game after signing him just a few weeks prior.

Taking a swing on someone like Kahlef Hailassie makes a lot of sense late in the draft. He’s a nice mover with good instincts who produced good coverage grades and turnovers (four interceptions over the last two seasons) at Western Kentucky. With solid requisite size and length at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, he’s well worth a late Day 3 pick for this franchise.

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jadakis Bonds. 7. WR. Hampton. player. 123

Jadakis Bonds is worth a seventh-round flier for the Cowboys at WR

Brandin Cooks solves the Cowboys’ need to add a field-stretcher on offense, but the wide receiver room still needs more depth, especially with Noah Brown now officially gone and Jalen Tolbert seemingly still a work-in-progress. Jadakis Bonds will have a steep learning curve coming from outside Division-I but he has some tools that look enticing.

Bonds was a certified deep threat at Hampton and that’s made more intriguing with his 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame with room to put on more bulk. His size allowed him to play well enough in contested-catch situations but with an NFL strength program, he could be even better in that capacity. That’s an interesting depth option for this team to add, especially this late in the draft.
