I’m sure you’ve heard it before, “Oh the Monday after the first weekend of March Madness is the worst.”

Well what that person doesn’t realize is you don’t have to go cold turkey, you can wean yourself off of four straight 12 hour basketball days with this beautiful little thing called the CBI.

Today, the CBI quarterfinals get under way with the Indiana State Sycamores against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at noon EST. The winner will move onto the semifinals against either Southern Utah or Rice. Let’s get into the odds for this CBI quarterfinal matchup between Indiana State and Eastern Kentucky.

Indiana State vs. Eastern Kentucky odds, spread and total

Indiana State vs. Eastern Kentucky prediction and pick

In the NCAA Tournament we saw a 16 seed beat a No. 1 seed, and we got a close one in the CBI. No. 1 seed, Indiana State only beat No. 16 USC Upstate 67-62 in the first round of the tournament. The Sycamores were sloppy with the basketball, turning it over 15 times and only forcing seven turnovers in the game. That allowed USC Upstate to finish the game with 13 more field goal attempts. The difference was the shooting because Indiana State went 9-for-25 from 3 compared to 5-for-24 for USC Upstate.

If the Sycamores want to keep advancing then they’ll need to clean things up, but that might not be so easy against Eastern Kentucky.

The Colonels were second in the Atlantic Sun in turnover margin at +2.1 and forced 14.3 a game which was the most in the conference. Indiana State only averaged 11.9 turnovers per game which isn’t bad, but their four-guard lineup had serious issues last round.

I think that the Sycamores with Courvoisier McCauley leading their 31st ranked offense in points per game in the country, they should be able to outscore Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels are flat out bad on the defensive end, but they dominated Cleveland State, 91-75 last round and did it by grabbing 50 rebounds to 29 from Cleveland State.

I like Eastern Kentucky to keep this one close and maybe even win, but I’ll take the points.
