Elijah Moore trade is actually great news for the Packers

With the New York Jets trading away wide receiver Elijah Moore, they may have helped their chances of completing a trade with the Green Bay Packers.
The New York Jets found out that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers intends to play for them in the 2023 season. While that’s all well and good, both the Jets and Packers have to reach an agreement on a trade, and neither side are close to that. But did the Jets get close to that?
On Wednesday, the Jets traded wide receiver Elijah Moore and a 2023 third-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for their 2023 second-round pick. After this trade, the Jets will be picking back-to-back in the second round with the No. 42 and 43 selections.
This is good news for the Packers. Why’s that? Well, as ESPN’s Rob Demovsky points out, the Jets have the No. 13 overall pick, which is worth 1,150 on the trade value chart. With the No. 42 and 43 picks combined, they are worth 950, which is worth the 17th overall pick, per Demovsky.

Packers get great news after Jets trade Elijah Moore to Browns
That’s right, now the Packers could get some value in exchange for giving up Rodgers to the Jets. They can either get the 13th overall pick or get the combination of the No. 42 and 43 picks from New York to further help build the roster around quarterback Jordan Love, who will take over for Rodgers as the starter.
The Jets made this trade around the same time that ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Jets were adding former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Now, the Jets have Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, and Hardman at the top of their depth chart.
The 2023 NFL Draft is quickly approaching, as the first round officially begins on April 27. Given that the Jets are going to get Rodgers, their record will likely be better next year, which means their draft picks in 2024 would be lower down the board.
Again, this is all dependent on Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst and Jets general manager Joe Douglas reaching an agreement. When looking at what the Jets got in return for Moore, fans of both teams may be wondering if this will help speed up the negotiation process.
