1. New York Mets

The New York Mets had the biggest offseason in the majors this year, and they have immensely high expectations in 2023 because of it. On paper, one could argue that they are the current favorites to win the World Series, but with there being so many excellent clubs in the league, nothing is guaranteed. Therefore, as we inch closer to the trade deadline, we should expect the Mets to be heavily involved in the Ohtani sweepstakes.

Could you imagine the Mets sporting a trio of Ohtani, Max Scherzer, and Justin Verlander at the start of their rotation? That would be ridiculous and make the Mets extremely difficult to beat in the postseason. However, one must remember that he would also improve their offense immensely due to his excellent power numbers. With the Mets looking for an upgrade at DH, they won’t find a better option than Ohtani.
