MLB rumors: Cincinnati Reds could be a suitor for Cristian Pache

This just makes too much sense not to happen, right? Rebuilding franchise in need of a centerfielder – what do the Cincinnati Reds have to lose except for more games?

The Reds fully embraced the idea of a rebuild last spring after trading away Sonny Gray, Jesse Winker, Eugenio Suarez, and Amir. Cincinnati GM Nick Krall doubled down by trading Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, Tommy Pham, and Brandon Drury last summer.

The Reds enter the 2023 season with virtually no expectations. It’s not to say that the club is devoid of talent, but much of Cincy’s roster is very raw. There’s also a huge hole in center field.

Ever since Billy Hamilton left the Queen City in 2018, the Reds have struggled to find the right player to fit in center field. Former infield prospect Nick Senzel was supposed to be the answer, but an inability to stay on the field has seen his opportunity all but expire. Senzel will start his 2023 campaign on the IL.

Cristian Pache would be an immediate upgrade in the middle of the outfield defensively, and at 24 years old, he fits right in with the majority of a Cincinnati Reds roster that’s teeming with young talent. If would be shocking if the Reds don’t at least inquire as to Pache’s availability and what the Oakland A’s would want in return.
