Despite an influx of talent on both sides of the ball, the Silver and Black were a big disappointment in 2022. Will the Las Vegas Raiders rebound this year?

Off their first playoff appearance since 2016, there was a lot of optimism in Sin City. However, a 10-7 showing in 2021 and a tough wild card loss at Cincinnati turned into a 6-11 record and a third-place finish in the AFC West this past season. A bright spot was running back Josh Jacobs, who led the NFL in rushing yardage.

General manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels have added plenty of new veterans this offseason and parted with some familiar faces, most notably nine-year veteran quarterback Derek Carr and tight end Darren Waller. Once again, it’s never boring when it comes to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Raiders draft picks 2023

Barring any trades over the next four weeks, the Raiders will have 12 picks in this year’s draft. That includes multiple selections in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds.

  • Round 1: 7th overall
  • Round 2: 38th overall
  • Round 3: 70th overall
  • Round 3: 100th overall
  • Round 4: 109th overall
  • Round 5: 141st overall
  • Round 5: 144th overall
  • Round 5: 174th overall
  • Round 6: 204th overall
  • Round 6: 214th overall
  • Round 7: 220th overall
  • Round 7: 231st overall

The Raiders have an extra third-round pick after sending tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants. A trade with the Falcons which sent wide receiver Bryan Edwards to Atlanta netted Las Vegas a fifth-round pick but cost them a seventh-round selection. The club has a pair of compensatory picks as well as an additional seventh-rounder via a deal with the Patriots.

Raiders draft needs 2023

It’s been another busy offseason for the Silver and Black. The key offensive additions include quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and tight ends O.J. Howard and Austin Hooper. Here are the club’s top five needs according to the staff at Pro Football Focus (subscription required).

  1. Quarterback
  2. Tackle
  3. Guard
  4. Center
  5. Cornerback

General manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels have an opportunity to make Hey with a dozen picks in April. The club has eight Day 3 selections and it will be interesting to see if they package some of those choices to move up.

Of course, the Raiders signed Garoppolo to offset the release of Derek Carr. Despite the addition of the former 49ers’ starter and due to the fact that Garoppolo has had trouble staying healthy, the team could address the position sometime during the draft. It’s worth noting that Ziegler did not address the offensive line during free agency.
