The Dallas Cowboys are linked to a prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft that could be a possible backup to quarterback Dak Prescott.

The Dallas Cowboys offense has a new look heading into the 2023 season. Kellen Moore is out as offensive coordinator, with Mike McCarthy taking over as play-caller. Running back Ezekiel Elliott was released from his contract. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks joined the team by way of a trade with the Houston Texans.

The hope is that they can bring in enough help for quarterback Dak Prescott this offseason, and there’s still the NFL Draft less than a month away.

It appears that the Cowboys are targeting an in-state prospect.

NFL Network’s Jane Slater tweeted out a video with her interview with TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Max Duggan. In Slater’s tweet, she mentions that Duggan has drawn interest from the Cowboys, as well as the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Jets.

Cowboys reportedly interested in TCU quarterback Max Duggan

Duggan is not expected to go in the first-round alongside the likes of Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud or Anthony Richardson, but he could be a prospect selected in the later rounds.

This past season, Duggan entered the college football spotlight during TCU’s improbable run to the College Football Playoff national championship game. Duggan played a huge factor in that, as he threw for 3,698 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while completing 63.7-percent of his passes. Additionally, Duggan ran for 423 yards and nine touchdowns on 137 carries.

Duggan finished second in Heisman Trophy voting, behind winner and USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams.

The Cowboys quarterback depth chart is led by Prescott, and his backed up by Cooper Rush, who the team re-signed to a two-year contract this offseason. In the likelihood that Prescott gets injured, it never hurts to have depth.

While Cowboys fans will be interested in who they select with the 26th-overall pick in the NFL Draft, they also want to know what their entire class will look like.
