“How about them Aztecs.”

It was quite the final sequence in the game. San Diego State head coach Brian Dutcher refused to use a timeout even after Nathan Mensah hauled in the rebound on Davis’ missed shot. Dutcher admitted during his post-game interview with CBS Sports that he didn’t call a timeout because he ran out of plays!

The decision paid off for Dutcher, as he has SDSU just one win away from winning their first national title.

Prior to this lengthy run by SDSU, the furthest the men’s basketball program had gotten was the Sweet 16. They clinched their longest run in the NCAA Tournament by defeating the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sweet 16, who were one of the favorites to win the national title this year.

San Diego State fans were celebrating everywhere, from inside NRG Stadium in Houston, to Petco Park ahead of a Padres game. It will be a moment that San Diego sports fans will remember for quite some time.
