The St. Louis Cardinals sent two balls out of the yard to open their Sunday afternoon game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The St. Louis Cardinals entered Sunday’s rubber match against the Toronto Blue Jays hoping to prove that Saturday’s performance wasn’t a fluke. The Joker-inspired chaotic Jack Flaherty performance helped the Cardinals hold the Blue Jays to just a run on Saturday.

They did not wait long on Sunday to get out of the gates.

Toronto went scoreless in the first inning, and the Cardinals lunged to get ahead 2-0 with back-to-back solo home runs from Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson, the second of the year for Donovan and the first for Burleson.

Here’s a clip of the two homers:

Blue Jays-Cardinals looks like it’ll be high scoring

After those home runs, Nolan Gorman, who was fourth in homers on the team last year, hit his first home run of the year in the same inning. He batted Willson Contreras in as well.

The Blue Jays bounced back with three runs in the top of the second inning to bring it within one.

After those three, the Cardinals now stand tied for third in total home runs (5) along with five other teams and fifth in total runs scored, tied with the Rays for fifth in the MLB.

Jordan Montgomery, who pitched well after being traded from the Yankees to St. Louis last season, is on the mound for the Cardinals today.

Now, fans just wait for Jordan Walker’s first career homer. In the meantime, he’s happy to flash other skills.
