ST. LOUIS — When it comes to food and baseball, few fanbases have it better than the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium.

Take a stroll around Busch Stadium during any home game and you will see plenty of fans decked out in red, ready to cheer on the defending National League Central champion St. Louis Cardinals. As you notice the fans, however, you will also observe that each of those fans has his or her own taste in what will be consumed while watching the game in the shadow of the Gateway Arch.

During the opening weekend matchup between the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays, I walked around to check out some of the food options available for the fans. I also asked a few of them for their personal recommendations that they would share with FanSided readers.

St. Louis Cardinals fans share their favorite Busch Stadium food choices

Brett Hunter of East Alton, Ill., has one food focus when he goes to Cardinals game. On Opening Day, after entering Busch Stadium, he headed to Broadway BBQ near Section 109.

“I get the pulled pork nachos and they are amazing,” Hunter said. “There’s never a doubt what I am getting when I get to the game.”

Meanwhile, near Section 132 at Top Dog, Jacob and Ashley Stevens of Quincy, Ill., make the bratwurst as their ballpark food choice. There are plenty of options there to elevate the bratwurst to the star of the show, including grilled onions, julienne peppers, sauerkraut, nacho cheese, pico de gallo, shredded pepper jack, diced onions, coleslaw, pickle slices and giardiniera.

“The bratwurst is the go-to choice,” Ashley smiled. “Cardinals games are always great, but you have to a brat to go along with the whole Busch Stadium experience.”

For another choice inside Busch Stadium that has to do with a spinoff of the hot dog, the lines are usually long at Kohn’s near Section 147. Frank Stephens of St. Louis told me that the knockwurst was “absolutely the best you’ll find anywhere,” but added it was a tough choice picking the knockwurst over the corned beef and pastrami sandwiches also offered at the stand.

Looking for something that is completely different than anything from the hot dog family? Look no further than the Mission Taco Joint near Section 150. There are plenty of street taco options, including a vegan option as well.

Of course, there are always the traditional hot dogs, pretzels, peanuts, ice cream, and alcoholic beverage options (it wouldn’t be a St. Louis Cardinals game without Budweiser being available, right?) spread throughout Busch Stadium. You can see all of the options available inside the stadium and their locations here.
