LeBron James is looking to continue to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a playoff spot, but will he play on Wednesday in a crucial game against the Clippers?
The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a role in this final stretch of the regular season. Even after losing LeBron James for nearly a month due to a right foot tendon injury, the team is currently tied for sixth place in the Western Conference. Since James returned, the Lakers have gone 4-1 entering Wednesday, including over the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Utah Jazz.
The Lakers can take the lead on Wednesday night with a win over the team they are tied for sixth place with — the Clippers.
But will James be playing?
Will LeBron James play tonight in the Lakers’ game against the Clippers?
Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that both James and Anthony Davis are listed as game-time decisions. Charania said that both are expected to participate in pre-game warmups to see if they can play.
Update, 9:23 p.m. ET: Once again per Charania of The Athletic, both LeBron and Anthony Davis will play on Wednesday night as they hope to improve LA’s seeding for the postseason.
As Charania brings up, this is the Lakers’ final back-to-back of the season, as they played on Tuesday night against the Utah Jazz, where they picked up the 135-133 win in overtime. James played for 38 minutes, where he scored 38 points (14-of-27 from field), dished out six assists, and hauled in five rebounds. As for Davis, he played 41 minutes and recorded a double-double with 21 points scored (7-for-16 from field, 7-for-12 from free throw line) and 14 rebounds.
James is averaging 28.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists while 50.0-percent from the field and 30.3-percent from the three-point line through 52 games this season.
Given the implications that this game carries, Lakers fans are waiting for a specific answer regarding both James’ and Davis’ status for the game Wednesday. Expect an announcement prior to the 10:00 p.m. ET tipoff time.
