The Masters cut line prediction (What will players need to shoot to make the cut?)
The wait is almost over, The Masters is here!
The best golfers in the world will tee-off at Augusta National on Thursday as the first major tournament of 2023 gets underway.
At the conclusion of the second round, golfers who are in the top 50 (including ties) will advance to the weekend.
So, what will golfers need to shoot through Round 2 in order to compete on the weekend? It’s going to be hard to predict, but let me take a shot at it.
If you want to see the odds for each golfer to make or miss the cut, you can find those odds here.
The Masters cut line prediction
What the cut line is going to be is largely going to be decided be the weather. With one day to go until the tournament begins, the weather report isn’t looking promising.
With that being said, the nastiest weather is projected to take place over the weekend. Thursday seems to be alright, and the wind is only going to pick up later in the day on Friday. So, don’t be surprised if scores start going in the wrong direction on the weekend.
That means that the cut line should be relatively close to average compared to previous years.
There has been three years since the Masters made the cut line ONLY the top 50 players including ties. Before that, you could be beyond 50th but would still make the cut if you were within 10 strokes of the lead.
In those three years, the cut line was +3 in 2020, +3 again in 2021, then +4 last year.
It’s remained relatively consistent, so I expect a similar result this year. With the less than perfect weather, I’m going to make my cut line prediction +4.
Cut line prediction: +4
