Eagles Draft Picks 2023: Every selection Philadelphia has in April
The Birds came up just short in their Super Bowl LVII with the Chiefs. Can Nick Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles build on their strong showing in 2022?
Roughly a year ago at this time, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was making a handful of moves that made a huge difference for a team that had finished 9-8 in 2021 and grabbed a wild card berth.
The Philadelphia Eagles traded for former Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown and signed pass-rushing demon Haason Reddick in free agency.
Both acquisitions paid off in a big way. Nick Sirianni’s club finished 14-3, captured the top seed in the NFC and reached Super Bowl LVII. Unfortunately, the Eagles could not hold onto a 24-14 halftime lead and fell to the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-35.
Will Philadelphia become just the fourth team to lose a Super Bowl and win the title the following season? There’s some work to be done.
Eagles draft picks 2023
Roseman has been one of the league’s busiest and most aggressive GMs in recent years. As of this writing, the Eagles have just six total picks in this year’s draft. However, two are in the first round. Will he stand pat?
- Round 1: 10th overall
- Round 1: 30th overall
- Round 2: 62nd overall
- Round 3: 94th overall
- Round 4: None
- Round 5: None
- Round 6: None
- Round 7: 219th overall
- Round 7: 248th overall
The Birds have two first-round selections, the Saints (No. 10) and their own (No. 30). Roughly three weeks before the 2022 draft, Philadelphia sent two first-round choices and a sixth-round pick to New Orleans for first-round picks in 2022 and ’23, third- and seventh-rounders in ’22 and a second-round choice in ’24.
Still, Roseman only has six choices in this draft thanks to separate deals that enabled them to obtain pass-rusher Robert Quinn (4th) and defensive backs Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (5th) and Josiah Scott (6th).
Eagles draft needs 2023
When it comes to April’s draft, Sirianni’s club has the following needs – courtesy of the fine folks at Pro Football Focus (subscription required).
- Wide receiver
- Guard
- Center
- Interior defensive line
- Safety
The defending NFC champions certainly took a few hits, in particular on the offensive line. Right guard Isaac Seumalo signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Former starting left tackle Andre Dillard swung a deal with the Titans.
The club also lost safeties Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (Lions) and Marcus Epps (Raiders). They may have filled those voids with the signings of Justin Evans (Saints) and Terrell Edmunds (Steelers). Is there an adequate replacement for defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, who left for San Francisco?
