Huge tree falls near spectators as The Masters suspends play (Video)
Bad weather at The Masters took a terrifying turn as a giant tree fall had spectators running for safety before play was suspended.
The Masters has an absolutely gorgeous setting at Augusta National. However, those spectacular trees look more scary than stately when they’re toppling over.
The iconic tournament had to be suspended on Friday because of inclement weather and one video shows exactly why.
Cameras on hand caught the terrifying moment when a huge tree fell as spectators ran for cover.

The official Twitter account for The Masters confirmed that play had been suspended at 4:22 p.m. ET because of the unsafe weather. The grounds were evacuated, which is hard to argue with after watching such towering tree hit the ground with so many people in danger of being hit.
“Due to inclement weather conditions, Augusta National Golf Club was forced to suspend play at 4:22 p.m. EDT and, subsequently, evacuated the grounds,” the announcement read. “Further updates will be announced once available.”
There have been no reports of injuries related to the tree fall so far. Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail reported that “nobody was hurt during the tree fall.” So that’s some good news.
At the time of the suspension, Brooks Koepka led the field at -12. Jon Rahm sat in second at -9 with Samuel Bennett beind him by one stroke.
