Bengals player’s IG story reignites Ezekiel Elliott rumors amid Joe Mixon drama

With more and more Joe Mixon drama emerging, rumors of Ezekiel Elliott joining the Cincinnati Bengals are heating up big time, especially after this Instagram story hit the interwebs, alright.

Let’s put Ezekiel Elliott on the Cincinnati Bengals roster already, and just be done with it!

The former Ohio State star has been a free agent for about a month now. He was released by the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks ago. Although Elliott can still be a productive player in the league, he is past his prime. Once Dallas used the franchise tag on Tony Pollard, Elliott’s days with the Cowboys were numbered. Fortunately for him, there does seem to be one fantastic landing spot.

With Joe Mixon’s legal troubles coming to the forefront again, why not sign Elliott this offseason?

Keep in mind that he and Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase share the same representation.

While there may have been other suitors out there for Elliott, Cincinnati is by far and away the place where he needs to go. He would be going to a real Super Bowl contender and would join one of the most high-profile offenses in the league. Though he has the same representation as Chase, keep in mind Elliott was college teammates with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow at Ohio State.

Elliott may hail from Greater St. Louis, but any former Buckeye knows what it would mean to play and star for one of the two professional teams in-state at some point in their careers. Although he may not be a bell-cow back anymore, Elliott is adept at catching balls out of the backfield and is outstanding in pass protection. It is especially critical when it come to Cincinnati’s title aspirations.

Being able to protect Burrow is priority No.1 for the Bengals, beyond paying him, of course. Cincinnati is so fortunate to retain both of its top-flight coordinators for another season. Lou Anarumo nearly got the Arizona Cardinals job, while Brian Callahan certainly made a name for himself during the interview process. Simply, Zac Taylor has an absolutely loaded coaching staff.

In truth, Elliott is not going to be a panacea for what ails the Bengals, but he can definitely fill in some of the cracks they have in roster construction. His on-field production may not equate to what Mixon can do at this stage of his career, but he is the ideal complementary back the Bengals will need to get back to the conference title bout, win the AFC and then go to another Super Bowl.

Elliott to the Bengals makes too much sense for it not to happen at some point this offseason.
