This offseason, the Steelers prioritized providing depth along the offensive line. Not just to protect Pickett, but to also open up holes for running back Najee Harris.

The team signed former New York Jets guard Nate Herbig, who could slot in as a starting guard. But then, the Steelers made the big splash move in signing Isaac Seumalo from the Eagles. That is a tremendous signing for the Steelers, as they get to bring in a key starting offensive linemen from the Eagles, who had a dominant offense led by quarterback Jalen Hurts.

But, what’s to stop the Steelers for bringing in more depth in the NFL Draft. Let’s not forget that Pickett did miss some time due to concussions, so protecting him in the pocket should be a priority. With that, names that were on the roster last year could be in danger of losing a spot on the roster.

Kevin Dotson is one of those players.

The Steelers selected Dotson in the fourth-round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisiana. By 2021, he became a full-time starter on the offensive line. But last season, Dotson struggled with penalties, picking up 11 in total, including four holding and four false starts, on 1,160 total snaps, per Pro Football Reference. Dotson also allowed four sacks.

Dotson showed promise early on in his career, and a team could take a chance on him, via trade. The Steelers could save $2.74 million in cap space by releasing or trading Dotson, per Spotrac.
