Former Astros player admits to PED use and sign stealing in Twitter rant
Former Astros player Evan Gattis unleashed a Twitter rant for the ages in which he admitted to PED use and sign-stealing while in Houston.
There’s not been any mistaking that the Houston Astros were stealing signs en route to the 2017 World Series victory for quite some time. But former catcher/outfielder/DH Evan Gattis, much like Ogres, proved that the Astros scandal has more layers to it than we realized.
For no other reason than what we have to assume he felt like it, Gattis took to Twitter on Monday and was a completely open book. But in doing so, he made numerous admissions about his individual role in the sign stealing scandal.
Specifically, Gattis not only admitted that his home run in Game 7 of the ALCS against the New York Yankees was a “trash can bang”, but that he was probably on PEDs at points of the season as well.
Astros: Evan Gattis admits PED use, sign stealing on Twitter
Though his Twitter feed was full of a number of admissions and revelations in his own tweets and certainly in the replies, perhaps the funniest one of all was talking about how he and the Astros knew what was coming from Yu Darvish and they still couldn’t put up a run on the now-Padres pitcher.

Gattis spent six seasons in MLB, four of them playing for the Astros. While in Houston, he slashed .245/.298/.471 with 96 home runs and 293 RBI.
Again, the sign stealing and trash cans are nothing knew — these are things that we’ve widely known about. However, Gattis adding that he was using PEDs during that same season in addition to also admitting that a crucial home run in a series that Yankees fans are still not over losing is sure to ruffle some feathers.
As someone who just likes to see people be honest about a situation, even if it doesn’t paint them in the best of lights, let’s hope that Gattis has more to say soon.
