Chiefs free agents who could be replaced in the 2023 NFL Draft: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR

The Chiefs saw two of their main wide receivers leave via free agency this offseason, the first being JuJu Smith-Schuster, who spent only one year with Kansas City. Smith-Schuster signed with the New England Patriots, leaving the Chiefs with Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the top three options on the depth chart.

If the Chiefs wanted to replace Smith-Schuster with a bigger-bodied slot receiver, there is no better option than Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who might be the best overall receiver in the class.

But, if the Chiefs were to go get him, they’d have to move up a ways. Would he be worth it? Absolutely. Just imagining the draft’s best wide receiver playing with Patrick Mahomes seems highly unfair.

Also a first round option, the Chiefs could look at someone like Jordan Addison out of USC. He’s a bit smaller than Smith-Schuster, but a great route runner who can work the middle of the field. Currently projected to go in the latter half of the first round, Addison would be a welcomed addition to the offense.
