Chiefs free agents who could be replaced in the 2023 NFL Draft: Frank Clark, DE
One guy who is still available, like McKinnon, is veteran defensive end Frank Clark. The three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher has been an integral part of the Chiefs defense over the last four seasons, and only turns 30 years old in June. Still, he could be replaced with a younger option that would give Kansas City financial flexibility.
If the Chiefs wanted to look at a replacement early on, they have a plethora of options. Even though they hold the last pick in the first round, they are fortunate that edge rusher is a deep position this year.
We could see a good amount of pass rushers go in the first round, but some of the guys who could be available later in the round are: Georgia’s Nolan Smith, Iowa State’s Will McDonald IV, Clemson’s Myles Murphy, and Kansas State’s Felix Anudike-Uzomah.
Going further down into the second or third round, there are still some great talents available. One of the best Day 2 options out there is USC’s Tuli Tuipulotu. He ended 2022 with 22 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks. His blend of size, strength and speed is well-balanced and allows him to line up as either an outside linebacker or a true defensive end, giving him some versatility depending on how the Chiefs want to use him.
