Brian Snitker rightly loses his mind, gets ejected after terrible call (Video)
Braves manager Brian Snitker was ejected from Friday night’s game against the Royals after the officials bungled a fair ball call.
MLB has instituted a bunch of new rules this year. They should have considered another: Managers should be allowed to yell at the officials as much as they want if they truly blow a call.
Then Brian Snitker wouldn’t have been ejected on Friday night while the Braves were facing the Royals.
The Braves manager was tossed for speaking his mind to the umps about their multi-faceted screw up in the top of the second inning.
Matt Olson hit a ball to left that looked like it might go foul, but it just snuck in fair. However, the officials missed it and called it foul. Snitker challenged the call and was proven correct. The ball absolutely made it inbounds.
The umps overturned the call but then they screwed up again by calling it a single. That ball hit the wall and rolled away from the left fielder. Calling it a single is some touch of insanity.
Brian Snitker was ejected over bungled call on Matt Olson’s fair ball
Snitker obviously agreed that it was a mindboggling call. He called the officials out for their incompetence and got tossed for it. Here’s the video:
In a sweet case of ‘ball don’t lie,’ Sean Murphy promptly hit a double to left to score the two runners. At that point the Braves led 7-1.
Atlanta may have gotten screwed on the call but they quickly unscrewed themselves to take a commanding lead. Snitker just gets to enjoy an early dinner thanks to the 17th ejection of his Braves career.
Along with the RBI double from Murphy and a Sam Hilliard home run in the second, the Braves got first inning home runs from Olson and Austin Riley plus a Vaughn Grissom RBI double in his return to the lineup.
