Diar DeRozan, the daughter of Bulls star DeMar DeRozan, went viral on Wednesday for her free throw defense. Then she received “severe online threats.”

DeMar DeRozan’s daughter, Diar, went viral on Wednesday for screeching during free throw attempts and quite effectively disrupting Raptors’ shooters.

The Bulls beat Toronto to keep their playoff hopes alive in the play-in tournament which concludes on Friday night against the Heat. As for Diar, she became a national sensation with United Airlines offering to fly her to Miami while the official Bulls Twitter account tried to get her out school.

Sadly, this story just took a dark turn because in sports apparently it’s not possible for everyone to embrace a fun situation. Someone always has to ruin it.

Diar DeRozan received “severe online threats” after going viral

Diar had to be scored out of Scotia Bank Arena after the game on Wednesday with a security team “after NBA notified team of severe online threats directed at the nine-year-old,” Chris B Haynes of Bleacher Report and NBA on TNT reported on Twitter.

The young girl was just being the ultimate fan for her dad at a basketball game. She was a one-girl version of a college basketball student section. The sick people who sent threats in her direction need help, serious help.

Fortunately, nothing came of those threats on Wednesday. And she won’t be subject to any in-person incidents on Friday since she stayed home for the final play-in tournament game.

Still, it’s sad that DeRozan and his family even have to deal with this kind of thing. It shouldn’t be this way.

We don’t know if it was Raptors fans who sent the threats. Frankly it doesn’t matter. Anyone who would do that kind of thing is no true sports fan. They’re a sad person living a sad little life.
