Best MLB prop bets for today (Fade Michael Grove)
By Josh Yourish
We have a full slate on an MLB Saturday and that means we have some great prop bets to pitch for in the prop market. The NHL and NBA are beginning their playoffs, but the MLB is still in the early stages and that means we have enough information to bet on some early year trends, but sometimes the market hasn’t quite adjusted yet.
Not only are all the teams in action, but we have baseball games all day long. These are my three best prop bets for a full day of baseball.
Best MLB prop bets
Carlos Santana to hit a double (+440)
Michael Grove under 4.5 strikeouts (+100)
Tyler Anderson over 17.5 pitching outs (-105)
Carlos Santana to hit a double (+440)
The switch-hitting Santana typically swings it a little bit better from the left side than the right, but this season he’s had a lot of success in his 11 at-bats against lefties. Santana has a 1.363 OPS against left-handed pitching and his .833 slugging percentage comes from three doubles that he’s hit swinging from the right side. Against Steven Matz today, he is a good bet to hit another two-baggers.
Michael Grove UNDER 4.5 strikeouts (+100)
Grove has four strikeouts in each of his first two starts, so that makes this a good bet already. It gets even better when you factor in that the Cubs have the third least strikeouts of any team in the MLB. Grove is yet to pitch more than four innings, so I’ll back on limited volume and a low K output on Saturday.
Tyler Anderson OVER 17.5 pitching outs (-105)
Tyler Anderson had a rough start last time out for the Angels, but is heading back to the mound today against the Red Sox. His first outing he went six full innings against Oakland and I expect him to go deep into this one against the Red Sox. Boston is 19th in OPS against left-handed pitching this year.
